Kobeni's Car vs Stroheim's Plane (Chainsaw Man vs JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) | Abnormally Normal Blogs
Abnormally Normal Blogs Presents…
Kobeni’s Car
The Car Belonging to Kobeni Higashiyama
Stroheim’s Plane
The Plane Belonging to Rudol Von Stroheim
“I wanted to write an adventure story, not, it's true, I really did. I shall have failed, that's all. Adventures bore me. I have no idea how to talk about countries, how to make people wish they had been there. I am not a good travelling salesman. Countries? Where are they , whatever became of them.
When I was twelve I dreamed of Hongkong. That tedious, commonplace little provincial town! Shops sprouting from every nook and cranny! The Chinese junks pictured on the lids of chocolate boxes used to fascinate me. Junks: sort of chopped-off barges, where the housewives do all their cooking and washing on deck. They even have television. As for the Niagara Falls: water, nothing but water! A dam is more interesting; at least one can occasionally see a big crack at its base, and hope for some excitement.
When one travels, one sees nothing but hotels. Squalid rooms, with iron bedsteads, and a picture of some kind hanging on the wall from a rusty nail, a coloured print of London Bridge or the Eiffel Tower.
One also sees trains, lots of trains, and airports that look like restaurants, and restaurants that look like morgues. All the ports in the world are hemmed in by oil slicks and shabby customs buildings. In the streets of the towns, people keep to the sidewalks, cars stop at red lights. If only one occasionally arrived in a country where women are the colour of steel and men wear owls on their heads. But no, they are sensible, they all have black ties, partings to one side, brassières and stiletto heels. In all the restaurants, when one has finished eating one calls over the individual who has been prowling among the tables, and pays him with a promissory note. There are cigarettes everywhere! There are airplanes and automobiles everywhere. ” - J.M.G. Le Clézio
Vehicles. We use them to travel from one place to another, but sometimes, we also use them to crash into people. Which legendary crasher will outcrash the other crasher and win in a crash? Crash.
Let's resolve this paradox in an Abnormally Normal Blog!
Before We Start…
For this analysis, we will be focusing on the Chainsaw Man manga and the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime and manga. We also won’t be giving either vehicle their operators that drove them in their respective stories to make sure this doesn’t become an entirely unrelated discussion. Only the vehicles will be here.
Background
Kobeni’s Car
“vroom vroom ”
In chapter 57 of Chainsaw Man, the fiend known as Power got into a Car belonging to Kobeni Higashiyama and accidentally ran over two of her coworkers. Turns out one of them was actually one of the three assassin brothers that had disguised himself as a member of their group, and thus the car saved the day.
…later on it got crushed by Kishibe so lmao-
Stroheim’s Plane
“fwoosh ”
In chapter 110 of JoJo’z Bizarre Adventure, our protagonist Joseph Joestar would enter a Plane belonging to Rudol Von Stroheim and use it to fight the Ultimate Life Form, Kars. As it turns out, Kars was too powerful, and thus to defeat him, Joseph would ram the all-powerful being with the plane into a volcano to save the day.
…Kars survived this though and chopped off Joseph’s arm lmao-
Experience, Skill & Intelligence
Kobeni’s Car
When being driven by the genius Power, it was able to successfully slam into Denji and one of the three assassin brothers to knock them out of commission, both of which are expert devil hunters. Besides this, uh, it sure is a car.
Stroheim’s Plane
While being flown by Joseph Joestar, it was capable of firing upon Kars and outpacing him for a good while; even managing to fool him with a fake parachute decoy and drive him into a volcano. Besides this, uh, it sure is a plane.
Equipment
Kobeni’s Car
Car Parts
Kobeni’s car comes equipped with windshield wipers for cleaning its own windshield, a steering wheel for steering, two side-view mirrors and a rearview mirror for visibility, wheels for movement, doors for allowing entry, windows for protection, and should be powered by a 499 cm3 L2 engine with 18 horsepower at 4600 RPM.
Stroheim’s Plane
Plane Parts
Stroheim’s plane comes equipped with wings and propellers for flight, a steering handle for steering, doors at its side for entering, windows for protection, machine guns it used to fire at Kars, its own radio for communicating with others, a parachute and fake mannequin for a diversion, and should be powered by six 44,520 cm3 Daimler-Benz DB 603G engines with 1,726 horsepower for takeoffs and 1,490 horsepower for continuous use.
Abilities
Kobeni’s Car
Car Physiology
Kobeni’s car is a 1965 Fiat 500. This makes it 2.969 meters long, 1.321 meters wide, and 1.326 meters tall, with a drag coefficient of 0.48, a cargo volume of 31 liters, and even a ground clearance of 0.135 meters while maintaining a fuel efficiency of 42.8 miles per gallon. All this with an unladen weight of 520 kg!
Stroheim’s Plane
Plane Physiology
Stroheim’s plane appears to be a Blohm & Voss BV 238. This makes it 43.35 meters long and 12.8 meters tall with a wingspan of 60.17 meters, with a gross weight of about 90,000 kg, a standard range of 6,620 km and even a service ceiling of 7,300 meters! According to Joseph, it can keep flying at a consistent pace for 2 hours straight.
Feats
Kobeni’s Car
Overall
Got 7th place in Chainsaw Man’s first popularity poll.
Power
Speed
Durability
Withstood its own ramming.
Stroheim’s Plane
Overall
Technically the first plane Joseph crashed intentionally (the other one doesn’t count).
Power
Speed
Durability
Weaknesses
Kobeni’s Car
Enough damage like that of people falling on it is capable of destroying it, and like any car, it will run out of fuel if left running for too long, which will leave it motionless. Its gross weight limit of 840 kg is also the utmost of what it can hold up, so any weight put on it that pushes it to that level would seriously damage it.
Stroheim’s Plane
Enough damage to its propellers like that from giant squid tentacles will cause it to fall out of the sky, and like any plane, it will eventually run out of fuel which will leave it without the ability to move (though Joseph comments it can go for about 2 hours). Its maximum takeoff weight is 100,000 kg, meaning that it is incapable of even taking off if its weight goes beyond that. Most damningly, it was incapable of withstanding its own kamikaze move on Kars, indicating its AP far exceeds its own durability.
Before the Verdict
Wait But Don’t They Need Operators To Function?
Yes.
Verdict
STATS
Comparing both of their capabilities… yeah you saw the stat section LMAO. Kobeni’s car at its peak can slam with 181 KiloJoules of energy and survive, but this is below even the standard energy of Stroheim’s plane’s motor, which is roughly 10x higher, and that’s before mentioning its ultimate kamikaze option clocking in at 1.7 Tons of TNT, eclipsing Kobeni’s car. And while yes, the plane cannot survive its own full output, its own machine gun fire should still be more than enough to shred Kobeni’s car.
As for speed, Kobeni’s car caps at 59 mph [94.95 km/h], which is far slower than Stroheim’s plane being able to consistently keep up speeds of 240 km/h. It’s quite obvious stats go to the plane.
ARSENAL & ABILITIES
Both have a lot of fun options to throw around, like, y'know, being able to move. Kobeni’s car having mirrors does give it better battlefield awareness… but there’s the obvious elephant in the room that Stroheim’s plane can fly, which gives it hilariously better mobility. Not only that, it also has actual weapons with its machine guns, giving it the long-ranged tools to play keepaway that Kobeni’s car cannot counter, as it needs to get in close to do literally anything; even if it did close the gap, the size difference between the two is so hilariously massive that it’s unlikely Kobeni’s car could actually deal much lasting damage to Stroheim’s plane. Combine this with Stroheim’s plane having a far better motor that lets it fly for 2 hours straight, which is technically more than the documented distance Kobeni’s car can consistently drive for (as we’re never given a number), and it becomes clear Stroheim’s plane gets another edge in arsenal and abilities.
TERTIARY FACTORS
Now this part right here is really what makes or breaks the debate. See, in regards to their “intelligence” showings, Stroheim’s plane seems to be far superior, pulling off far more complex strategies and tricks against a much more dangerous opponent (the ultimate life form with the ability to fly and shapeshift vs a single assassin that could only disguise his appearance) AND in a much higher-staked situation… until you remember that both of them required their drivers to do this. As mentioned in the Before We Start section, neither of them are getting drivers, as this is a raw fight between just their vehicles, and as covered in the Before the Verdict, both need drivers to do literally anything…
So then they can’t actually attack each other.
Thus, under the ruleset we have set up, as both are non-sentient vehicles, neither would be capable of taking advantage of any of their advantages, as they wouldn’t be able to do anything at all, thus making the most crucial category here a draw.
Conclusion
“vroom vroom ”
Advantages:
Its durability actually scales to its AP.
Ties:
Literally cannot do anything.
Disadvantages:
Everything else.
“fwoosh ”
Advantages:
Everything.
Ties:
Literally cannot do anything.
Disadvantages:
Its durability doesn’t scale to its maximum AP.
Well, both vehicles certainly gave it their all in this bout. Both were amazingly powerful, but the plane had literally every advantage that mattered here, but unfortunately, since neither have anyone driving them, they just can’t do anything but stand there. Fuck you.
The Winner is… NOBODY, EVERYBODY GO HOME!!!
